• Principles Tab 1

koc_tab1Charity  - Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Members of the Knights of Columbus show love for their neighbors by conducting food drives and donating the food to local soup kitchens and food pantries, by volunteering at Special Olympics, and by supporting, both spiritually and materially, mothers who choose life for their babies. Knights recognize that our mission, and our faith in God, compels us to action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need, a call we answer every day.

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic men’s fraternal organizations with over 15,000 councils and membership exceeding 1.8 million men. Founded in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, CT, we continue to follow the four principles the Order was founded upon: CHARITY, UNITY, FRATERNITY, and PATRIOTISM. We are affiliated with St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Sierra Vista AZ. All members are invited to attend monthly meetings. Business meetings are held at 7 P.M. on the 2nd Tuesday and social meetings are held at 7pm on the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 156 W. Kayetan. Practicing Catholic men 18 and older are invited to join the Knights of Columbus - contact  Membership Chairman, Abe Gatmen 520-227-2391.

6 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE KNIGHT

  • As an integral part of the world’s largest and most dynamic catholic fraternal organization, you will be united with over 1.6 million Brothers and families in 12,00 local councils located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Panama, the Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan and now Poland.  Each year, the Order continues this strong growth.
  • Your personal involvement as a Knight will provide opportunities, in Charity and Fraternity, for service to the church at the local, diocesan and universal levels; to your communities; and to the less fortunate in our midst.
  • Your active participation in council affairs: spiritual, fraternal, family, social, civic-oriented, athletic and recreational-will serves as a school of leadership and enables you to develop qualities that enhance your strength and abilities.
  • You enjoy a sense of “belonging” in an organization that shares your religious belief, brings together like-minded men joined in a common cause, and offers the opportunity to develop and cement friendships for years to come.
  • Your concerns for your family and for your retirement years can be addressed by the Order’s low-cost insurance program conducted by Brother Knights for Brother Knights, and assure their security and your peace of mind.
  • You will share in the sense of pride all Knights feel in knowing that their Order is second to none in support of Our Holy Father, our Bishops and Priests; in working for our fellow man, especially those most in need; and in binding together to preserve traditional values in the face of attacks against the family and innocent human life.
